Now you know where the plates and bowls that you will see in the pictures came from. However, the only problem I have in Ikea is the same problem that I have in Walmart. I go with the thought of spending twenty bucks but somehow that turns into forty or fifty. I can't figure it out. If you have that problem let me know, maybe we can start a support group or something. That's all for now. Thanks for reading and remember: cook simple, eat well.

Getting Ready
This weekend the wife and I went to Ikea. Why? Just because Ikea is one of the greatest stores ever. You can get good looking, decent quality home goods for a reasonable price. I needed plates, bowls, and silver wear for this blog. So we went and found some really nice stuff:

Why I'm doing what I do
"What do you want for dinner?" When I first got married my wife would ask me this every night. Like a typical man I would answer, "I don't care". The thing that was hard for her to accept was that I REALLY meant it. I didn't care. Despite all of my wife's wonderful qualities and skills there is one thing that she doesn't do, make decisions. I quickly found out that if I didn't tell her what I wanted, she would stare at me until I did.
Now, all of my friends will tell you that I'm all about getting a deal. Doesn't matter what for: clothes, electronics, anything. So I started looking at the weekly grocery sales paper and made our weekly menus based on what's on sale. That solved two problems, 1. what we were going to eat each night 2. it helps keep the grocery budget in check.(now sometimes the grocery stores don't cooperate and have crappy sales, for those weeks we just try new recipes and try again the following week).
I tell you all of that to explain why I'm blogging now. Some how every where we go it comes up that I make the grocery list based on the sales ad, I make the weekly menu, and I help my wife cook. The instant response is "can you teach my husband to do that?".
Well, here you go. The best I can, every week I will post my menu and recipes. We can laugh, cook, eat, and save money together. I will officially start posting my weekly menu and grocery list on August 1.
Until then keep checking back and I'll post my triumphs and failures this week as I get ready for our adventure.
